Mr Mister is a modern outback inspired retreat in the heart of Melbourne city
Not to be mistaken with the eponymous 80’s pop-rock band, Mr. Mister is the creation of Melburnian entrepreneur, Tyson Chambers. Located on the iconic Chapel Street in Windsor, the café joins the ranks that have set up shop in one of the most vibrant and effervescent alfrescos in Melbourne – if not, the whole of Australia. Yet, even amongst the hundreds of colourful heritage shopfronts standing shoulder-to-shoulder, vying for a share of the passing foot traffic, Mr. Mister stands out with its nonchalant and contemporary outback-inspired aesthetic.
With its modern take on classic breakfast dishes and cafe interiors, Mr Mister provides a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the Chapel Street precinct. The timber flooring and white brick walls, decorated with hanging golden pothos plants, seamlessly merges the cafe’s indoor and outdoor spaces – transporting locals to an intimate and modern outback estate. Dishes like the acai bowl and baked eggs with smoked chorizo are testaments to Chambers’ philosophy of staying true to the roots of the Australian food culture: marrying the right mix of local ingredients with a rustic flair. So next weekend when you’re marching down Chapel Street, defeated by the battalion of boutiques, retreat to Mr. Mister, as you prepare to conquer the remaining 4km.
